This is one of the most popular treatments I perform at Victoria Rose Aesthetics. Dermal filler in the lips are the perfect way to address several concerns including increasing fulness and volume in a thin lip, enhance lip definition, creating a more defined smile and give the mouth area a youthful, rejuvenated appearance.
I have completed several advanced lip training courses and masterclasses which enables me to use different techniques and products to help create your desired lip. I understand how your lips can affect your confidence as they are an area that gets regular attention which is why it is important to treat each set of lips individually.
Numbing Cream Applied
3 – 5 days
This is a question I get asked most often and can be a hard one to answer when I cannot see you in person as every individual is different. Therefore, a consultation is always recommended if you are unsure what to choose, where we can discuss your desired outcome and what would be best suited for you.
However, the simplest way to explain each lip filler is that they are all made of hyaluronic acid and each has different consistencies and longevity.
Revolax is a high cross-linking filler which means it integrates really well with your tissue giving a plumper look, I would recommend this one to someone who wants a fuller lip look. Revolax also lasts around 12 months on average.
The RHA brand of filler is more moveable when in your lips so gives a more natural look, this filler builds nicely so might not give huge lips on your first time but will not look ridged over time and you are therefore less likely to have any lumps with this filler.
Juvederm is a well-known brand of dermal fillers and has been around a long time, Juvederm Ultra is their normal range, it gives a nice amount of volume and lasts 6-9 months.
The Juvederm Volift is their premium range, this filler is designed to be softer and more natural, lasting up to 12 months. You would require more treatments using this filler for volume but would achieve more natural results over time.
All HA fillers come in pre-made syringe packets either in 0.5ml, 0.7ml or 1ml. I would recommend for people who were having filler for their first time to go for 1ml or 0.7ml to notice a difference and then would top up with 0.5ml around 6-9 months later (depending on product).
Some mild discomfort may be experienced. A strong anaesthetic numbing cream is applied to the area 15-20 minutes prior to injecting.
Inside the filler is lidocaine which begins working once injecting starts which can ease discomfort. I ensure you are comfortable throughout your treatment.
One of the great things about dermal fillers is that the effects are long lasting but not permanent. Dependent on the product used dermal filler can last between 6 – 18 months.
Everybody is different and lifestyle factors can contribute to the longevity of the dermal filler.
Factors which can affect this include individual skin type, skin condition, area treated, lifestyle, age and choice of filler.
Most people receive a top up at around 6-9 months to maintain their desired look. Top ups are charged the same as the initial treatment.
Like with any procedure there are risks and side effects associated with hyaluronic acid fillers but these are in general very rare.
These issues should be discussed with your aesthetic practitioner to ensure you know he or she is properly qualified and that you are in safe hands.
All HA fillers can be dissolved using an enzyme called hyalase. Hyalase is injected in to the area of dermal filler and breaks down the HA connected to the tissue, which then passes through your body. You can have your filler dissolved out of choice if you were unhappy or if a complication occurred. This can all be discussed in a review with your practitioner, your satisfaction is my main priority.
