The basic concept of dermaplaning is the same as shaving. By aiming a sterile blade at a 45-degree angle and moving it slowly across the top layer of skin, your therapist is removing the dead skin cells, scar tissue, and other debris that may be making your skin’s surface look uneven.
Your skin is exposed daily to harsh environmental toxins, irritants, and sun damage. This can cause the top layer of your skin to appear dull, and it can make you look aged. Dermaplaning clears away those damaged skin cells so newer skin cells are what you see when you look in the mirror.
At Victoria Rose Aesthetics we use AlumierMD products during our Dermaplaning Facials and tailor their products to your skin needs to optimise results.
We offer express, luxury and Alumier Peel dermaplaining facials.

Frequently Asked Questions
Dermaplaning is recommended for all skin types except those with active breakout and men with heavy facial hair. If you have active acne there are other treatments available that would be more beneficial, and it is necessary to wait until breakouts are healed before trying this treatment. As always, also discuss any allergies or skin sensitivities before starting a treatment. This is a great treatment if you are pregnant or nursing and want exfoliation without the use of chemicals.
You’ll immediately look more radiant with a more even skin tone and texture. Some people with more sensitive skin can appear a little red but this will subside within a day or two. While the main objective of this treatment is exfoliation, the immediate removal of peach fuzz is an added benefit which renders the skin exceptionally smooth and soft. Skin care products are better able to penetrate the skin following a dermaplaning treatment which allows them to work more efficiently. Your cosmetics will also go on smoother. After the treatment, your skin will be highly sensitive to sun exposure and may look pink, so be sure to wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher to reduce the risk of hyperpigmentation.
After a Dermaplaning treatment your skin needs time to heal and restore. Treat the skin gently, using only hands to cleanse for at least 2 days and wearing sunscreen every day. Avoid exercise or anything that will make your skin irritated for 48 hours following your treatment.
As with any facial at Victoria Rose Aesthetics it is recommended that you wait 24 hours at least before applying any makeup to allow the skin to heal.
No, dermaplaning will not alter your natural hair growth. As we remove the vellus hair we are cutting it at the thickest part of the hair follicle so it may appear thicker or darker for a brief period of time. However, this perceived difference is cosmetic, and most clients do not notice.
No the sterile blade is used lightly over the top layer of dead skin cells. Most clients find this very relaxing.
Most peoples skin is on an average 30 day cell turnover, so this treatment is recommended every 4-6 weeks for long lasting benefits. If you did not come back for a treatment your skin and vellus hair would return to how they were before the treatment.
