Natural-looking Younger Skin
Tighten, lift, resurface, regenerate and rejuvenate practically any area of the skin with absolute precision without the need for multiple types of treatment. The Plasma Pen by Lousie Walsh is the world’s most advanced non-invasive skin lifting, tightening and resurfacing plasma device available.
Over time our skin begins to sag, buckle, and collapse due to the dermal layer thinning and our collagen production slowing down which leads to lines, wrinkles and sagging skin.
The Plasma Pen was developed to dramatically repair, reverse and mitigate the negative effects of aging. The results – stunning, long-lasting natural-looking younger skin.
While often described as the fourth state of matter, plasma is actually a gas. Unlike ordinary neutral gases though, plasma is made up of positively charged and ionised molecules which are able to roam freely and fast. Plasma gas is able to do things that ordinary gases simply cannot do, such as conduct electricity, create magnetic fields and enable electrostatic interactions.
Through our Plasma Pen, the nitrogen plasma energy we create transfers rapidly to the skins epidermal layer, whilst simultaneously heating and disrupting the deeper dermal structure via thermal conduction. We can sustain our nitrogen plasma discharge for as long as we like thanks both to our continuous AC power source and our devices fingertip, on-demand control. Multiple failsafes within the device ensure that if we touch the skin or are too far away from it then the creation and delivery of plasma immediately ceases.
Frequently Asked Questions
The nitrogen plasma energy we create through Plasma Pen transfers rapidly to the skin’s epidermal layer whilst, simultaneously, heating and disrupting the deeper dermal structure via thermal conduction. In doing so, we intentionally create a dual zone of micro-trauma which comprises a superficial zone of outer thermal micro-damage to the epidermis and then, simultaneously, a deeper zone of inner thermal modification within the dermis – especially to the fibroblasts. That’s why we often call the treatment “fibroblasting”.
Fibroblasts are the most common cells of connective tissue in the body and they are the only cells that can make Type III collagen. Type III collagen synthesises alongside tougher Type I collagen over a period of about 3 months. Type I and Type III collagen is what helps provide the strength in our skin’s dense connective tissues and it is famed for minimising fine lines, wrinkles and micro-furrows, as well as improving the elasticity, suppleness and hydration of our skin.
Most fibroblasts are inactive and are actually called fibrocytes. Fibrocytes will rarely undergo cell division and will not produce collagen unless they are specifically re-activated by a wound healing process or inflammatory response. We do precisely that with Plasma Pen.
Aftercare following a Plasma Pen treatment is straightforward and mostly common sense. If you pay for an incredible treatment yet willfully ignore the strict instructions your technician will fully brief you on – perhaps by choosing to go on a sunbed the next day – you will clearly imperil the outcome.
We train our Technicians in exceptional detail and keep them up to speed on all the latest best practice. We arm them with all the tools they need to then devolve this information to you/their clients.
Aftercare will be discussed with you before and after your treatment. Printed information will also be provided by your technician who will, more than likely, follow-up with you regularly for post-treatment consultations.
However, based on thousands upon thousand of treatments around the world, these are some of our recommendations, top tips, best practices and advice to consider in your own personal aftercare regime:
Wait until your scabs have fallen off. You may resume activities immediately after any Plasma Pen treatment but may not look your complete best during the healing process (usually 3 to 7 days)
The formation of brown/black crusts on the skin surface will occur. Do not pick pick them – these crusts will fall off in a few days
For the first night or two, if you have had a facial treatment, you may wish to sleep on your back to avoid brushing your face on your pillow
Keep your scabs/crusts moist by applying aloe vera up to three times per day. This will provide relief from any tendency to itch and expedite the healing process
Keep the area clean using lukewarm boiled water and do not use alcohol based cleansers
Occasional weeping will settle
There may be some mild swelling – especially around the eyes and periorbital region. Swelling for 1 to 5 days post-treatment is normal but is usually of a very minor nature and to be expected. Post-treatment downtime and recovery from Plasma Pen is frequently shown to be superior to treatment with other devices
The area treated must not be covered with plasters, occlusive dressing or any type of make-up, mascara, creams or any other product until the area has fully healed (except specific products we recommend and which are available both from us/your technician)
After any kind of facial treatment, especially around the eyes, we recommend using aloe vera masks to prevent inflammation by soothing and reducing swelling
Taking Vitamin C supplements over the course of your healing process can give your immune system a big boost which will help you to repair. Anti-inflammatory and anti-histamine medication can also help
Consider the use of topical anti-oxidants to fight sun damage such as a Vitamin C serum. The use of citrus juice, aloe vera and soy are cited by some as good ingredients for preventing hyperpigmentation
Avoid smoking
Men should avoid shaving over any area that has been treated until the skin has fully healed
Once healed, you must use factor 50 sunscreen when out and about for at least 12 weeks and you should avoid sunbeds and sunbathing
We supply technicians with a tinted aftercare product which is designed to safely camouflage treated areas but we don’t recommend oily skinned clients use this as they will already heal slower and this could inhibit their recovery period further
It is highly unlikely you will ever get an infection from a Plasma Pen treatment as the wound we cause isn’t open. However, with any skin rejuvenation treatment, we are not in control of what you do when you leave and you should be aware that the first 12 hours is always the period of risk for you to get any kind of infection so please avoid activities where you could get dirty!
We recommend not exercising straight after a treatment because any heat, steam or sweat could add to the inflammation that’s already present
Very, very few clients ever experience complications of any kind with Plasma Pen. Our device is known to deliver compressed downtimes, higher velocity recovery and superior results. Any rare complications or effects will not be caused by the device (and unlikely by the technician either) but more likely because an existing contraindication or medical issue was not revealed and/or because a client fails to comply with their aftercare management plan. Deferred aftercare and/or aftercare with incorrect products are often the chief culprits where a negative aspect of any kind occurs.
Choosing not to receive treatment from a qualified Plasma Pen by Louise Walsh International Elite Technician using our official device could potentially lead to problems, especially as their are cheap devices often advertised as one thing but which are designed for something else entirely. If in any doubt about getting a treatment from any provider then please speak to us as we are the experts and are always happy to provide genuine advice. We want you to enjoy a safe treatment that will deliver the results you expect.
The treatment may be moderately uncomfortable and sensitive depending on where you are being treated – especially eyelid procedures where the skin is at its thinnest. Our device and our super-fine probes allow technicians to work more quickly and efficiently which minimises potential discomfort for you but this all depends on your own sensitivities and tolerances to start with. We also put 2 sets of numbing cream on before any treatment is carried out to minimise discomfort.
You can pretty much have plasma pen anywhere from lines and wrinkles, skin tightening on the face, stretch marks and mole removal. A full list can be found on our price list here.
Your technician will complete a detailed consultation with you, sometimes on the day of your treatment and sometimes before depending on your mutual preference and availability. They will complete detailed paperwork with you (such as consent forms) and will take before and after photographs since those are legally required for their insurance.
A typical consultation includes:
- Full details of your skin type and history
- Contraindications and relevant medical history
- Your lifestyle (e.g. are you a smoker, do you use sunbeds, do you use fillers, have you had any recent cosmetic surgery)
- Identifying what your expectations are, whether they are realistic and why you actually want treatment
- Answering any questions you have
- Explaining the treatment, the aftercare regime you will need to follow, the downtime, the likely recovery period and any other relevant information
- Explaining the number and frequency of treatments you may require, if more than one
- The cost and payment
Often only one but it will depend on your personal expectations, the area being treated, your age, the condition and type of your skin and many other factors. We implacably believe that you simply will not get better or faster results alongside less downtime and faster recovery than you will enjoy with an official Plasma Pen by Louise Walsh International procedure from one of our expert technicians.
Each and every client is different and your treatment plan will always be bespoke. In our experience, some clients may require 2 or more treatments to achieve optimal results, especially for some procedures and skin conditions where the results will be cumulative by design. Many clients are, as we say, absolutely delighted with the results that our technicians and advanced plasma technology are able to deliver after just one treatment.
Remember too that although your treated area may look completely healed from the outside very quickly and that our results are often utterly dramatic from day one; it takes several weeks and sometimes months for the cells living within your epidermal junction to fully do the job that we have told them to do in traumatising your skin with Plasma Pen. We advise all our technicians, for most treatments, not to treat anyone for a minimum of 8 weeks after their first treatment because before that point, we are unlikely to be able to see and fully appreciate all the results that the first treatment actually achieved. Often, at that point, they will tell you that you simply don’t need another treatment on that area because you have indeed achieved optimal results/effects!
Our treatment is probably the fastest out there thanks to our spectacular plasma delivery, the incredible ergonomic and lightweight design of our Plasma Pen, the tiniest probes and the best technician training and support that is available anywhere from any provider.
There are a superfluity of treatments available (see our Treatments page) but, to give you some examples, it should require about 30 to 40 minutes to treat your upper or lower eye areas. Procedures like a full neck treatment or a full forehead lift will be longer and prior to any treatment you will have the area numbed. Depending on the numbing and pre-treatment products used, the length of your pre-treatment consultation, the forms you will need to complete, the individual technician and then the aftercare advice provided to you after your treatment, this will of course extend the overall time you will spend with your technician. Depending on the particular treatment, your objectives and you as an individual, your technician may recommend more than one session.
To look younger without surgery, you need to look after your skin. Follow these steps for healthier looking skin:
- Avoid sun damage as this speeds up ageing
- Get a good night’s sleep – sleep deprivation is bad for your skin
- Avoid stress wherever possible
- Avoid excessive air pollution, smoking and alcohol
- Ensure you have a good diet – bad nutrition will show in your skin
- A good skincare regime each day is important
Although not always easy to avoid, the above are the main extrinsic factors behind skin ageing. There are intrinsic factors too which include the natural ageing process and our genetic disposition.
All of these effects can be combated not just with a better lifestyle and skin care programme but with next-generation treatments like Plasma Pen that are able to repair and roll back many of the negative signs of ageing and even prevent (or at least slow down) many of the future negative effects we are likely to experience – especially the premature degeneration of dermal elastic tissue (elastotic change).
Plasma Pen is able to lift, tighten, regenerate and repair practically any area of the skin and it spectacularly improves and brightens skin tone, laxity and texture and dramatically reduces and plumps out lines and wrinkles.
Plasma Pen fibroblasting and soft surgery sublimation is able to address damaged or unhealthy skin, treat an extensive range of skin conditions and deliver a brighter, more contoured and youthful appearance with virtually immediate and incredibly long lasting results – all without the need for fillers, suturing, scalpels, injectable anaesthetics or costly and invasive surgery
